Can these two words be used interchangeably?

Adapt and Adjust???

Top answer

In transitive use, no. In simple terms, "adapt" means to alter something so that it may serve a new purpose, while "adjust" means to alter something so that it may serve its existing purpose better. In intransitive use they seem closer and sometimes may overlap.
