She dedicated her life helping others, and was an advocate for civil rights. Eleanor was widely respected for her speeches and the compassion that she showed toward other people. The one thing that she could not accept was war as a necessary element in human affairs. She opposed war and wanted a peaceful world for everyone to enjoy. Eleanor was reduced to tears when she saw men in hospitals badly injured. She basically cared about people; especially soldiers.
