00I am writing this letter to apply to the master program Cognitive Neuroscience at ****. I am a third year cognitive neuroscience bachelor student. I would like to have the opportunity to enrol in this program, because I hope to gain more knowledge and experience to do research in cognitive neuroscience. Cognitive neuroscience is a field of study I am very interested in. I also believe I have the qualifications to complete this master successfully. 02br

00My interest in cognitive neuroscience started when I learned a little bit about how the brain works at a biology lesson at secondary school. Because of the curiosity toward this subject I entered the study Psychology. In the second year I chose to follow the study path applied cognitive psychology. But after doing the accompanying practicum I knew I wanted to do fundamental research instead of applied research. 02br

00I want to do fundamental research because I like to know and find out everything from the start and get to the bottom of it. I don’t want to look only at the things that can be applied to other fields outside the cognitive psychology, or only learn about the pathological brain function. That is why I like the fact that the research field is aimed at understanding normal and pathological brain function. The fact that this field of study is multidisciplinary also fits in my broader interest in mathematics and chemistry outside the field of cognitive neuroscience.02br
00Another reason why I want to follow this master program at the *** University is because I believe it is a very good master to learn how to do research. 02br

00Although I may not have done all the courses recommended to participate before entering the master Cognitive Neuroscience, I don’t think this should be a problem. Up untill know I passed all my courses, so I could make up the missing courses ‘Gedrag en farmaca’ and the practicum cognitive neuroscience in the first year of the programme. 02br
00 Although I like all subjects in the field of cognition and neuroscience, I am most interested in language and emotion. Language seems so natural to people, but nevertheless very complicated and advanced when you look at the development, production and comprehension of language. I really like reading about the studies people conducted to study these subjects; they need to be very creative. Emotion is a very interesting subject too I believe. A lot of cognitions can be influenced by this phenomenon. 02br

00I am a motivated and ambitious person. I also like to do things as good as possible; I don’t mind spending some extra time on my study to get a full understanding of it. Besides my university activities, I like to practice sports. I’m practicing karate-do and I like cycling. Furthermore I am a member of an international student association called AEGEE. I like to travel and learn things about other cultures. This association is a perfect place to organise and participate in activities and excursions concerning other countries in Europe. 02br
