Essay & Composition Writing

Can someone please check my IELTS writing? I couldn't find anyone around me can do that :( Thank you so much!

Task 1:

The charts below show the changes in ownership of electrical appliances and amount of time doing housework and households in one country between 1920 and 2019.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The two graphs give information about the proportion of families owning electrical applications and the amount of time they spent doing housework in a century (1919 - 2019)

Due to the climb of households possessing electrical equipment, their time doing household chores also rapidly decreases.

According to the first line graph, the percentage of households owning washing machines has increased from 40% in 1920 to 75% in 2019. However, this process hasn’t smoothly grown up but met a slight drop in the period between 1960 and 2000.

On the other hand, in 1920 just 30% families had vacuum cleaners and almost no one owned a refrigerator but this proportion has been significantly rising up to 100% in 2019.

Regarding the second chart, the time people spent doing houseworks has been dramatically fell from 50h per week in 1920 to 20% in 1960. Since that time, the percentage has slightly gone down to 10h per week in 2019.

Task 2:

In some countries, more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.

What are the reasons for this? How can people research this question?

Nowadays, more and more people are attracted to the history behind their house or building. This essay will discuss why this phenomenon arises, why these people are so interested in it and how they find out about that hidden story.

First of all, for the residents, security is one of the most crucial aspects that they must consider before buying or renting a new home. Thus, these people tend to carefully dig into the situation of their place, and obviously they won’t skip the past of that architecture. To clarify, the exploring helps them to know whether this house or building happened any frightened events like suicide, murder, social evils,... or so on. Secondly, there are some people figuring out about the history of their house only due to curiosity. They just want to understand more about where they live, and especially with who isn’t the local, that will be a good chance to develop the understanding about the culture and tradition around them. How boring it is if we live in a place where we know nothing happens outside at all?

But how can we investigate this question? The easiest way to find the answer is asking and talking with the neighbors nearby. They will give us abundant pieces of little things in our area, sometimes including the history from the very first day of the house or building. Additionally, we can research more information online or through the records of press, papers, magazines,... or even through the local authorities. There are many ways to unveil the past of our place, especially in this era where everything appears on the Internet.

To sum up, researching about our house or building plays an important part for the residents before and while deciding to live there. It helps us not only detect the potential risk but also truly understand the place if we really want to locate in that house for a long time.
