Topic: Some people think the best way to protect the environment is to increase the price of petrol. Do you agree or disagree?

It cannot be deniable that the environmental problems have always been a headache issue for the world. Some people assume that raising the price of petrol is the optimal way to protect the environment. Neverthless, I believe this solution is not the most excellent way due to the fact that there are other causes and also much better measures to this problem.

On the one hand, making the fuel's price higher is not the best way since it cannot make any differences to the pollution. Petrol is one of the necessity goods, which means the demand for it is inelastic. People will still buy it despite all the prices. Petrol is indispensable for daily transportation, therefore, we cannot help reducing gas released from vehicles by raising petrol's price. Moreover, fuel is not the only cause to the environment pollution, there are other reasons such as the abuse of plastic, a huge amount of waste or deforestation. These are my views to illustrate that petrol is not the only problem, thus, it cannot be considered as the optimal measure.

Furthermore, there are other solutions to the problem that we can take into account. First of all, people can have better education about this issue. People need to understand that human are the one destroying the nature, so, it has to depend on our subconscious minds to know all the activities we have done have bad impacts on the environment, we can change it providing better education for all the human beings. Leaders can bring environmental contamination issue into the cirriculum at schools. This will help to raise awareness to people at all ages, hence they will change their behaviour to protect the environment. Secondly, the government can bring forward environment protection laws. For example, they can have waste restriction law which only allows limited waste is thrown each person each month. People will learn to recycle things and reduce domestic waste.

To sum up, I totally disagree with the idea that raising the petrol's price is the best way to eliminate the pollution as it is not the only cause and there are many plausible solutions to the problem.
