Having the best education system, Australia is always an attractive destination to all international students. Being a student in Thailand, Tanawat has a plan to take a nursing course in Australia. He has not decided to choose which university to enroll in because of his many expectations. As a result, this research report examining three universities is to help him find out the most suitable university. Three universities are the university of Tasmania (UT), the university of Adelaide (UA) and the university of Queensland (UQ) which will be compared themselves in relation to location and living costs, reputation and international students, and international student services.
The locations and living cost of the three universities are both similar and different. For the overseas students who are going to study at the UA, it is convenient to go the university on foot. In contrast, both the UT and the UQ are within 1,5 km of the Hobart CBD and 1,7 km of Brisbane, respectively. Generally, all of them are rather near city retails, entertainment services and large companies. In addition, both the UA and the UQ have the moderate living cost; however, the UT has the low living cost.
The three universities differ with regard to the reputation and international student numbers. Based on the member of the group of 8 QS World University Ranking, the UQ has 46th position, while the UA just has 102nd position. Then, having been ranked by special Marine & Antarctic Institute QS World University Ranking, the US is at 357th. Moreover, there is about 15% intake of the international students at the UT, whereas the number of the overseas student of the UA is similar to the UQ’s which is approximately a quarter of the total intake.
The international student services , one of the most appealing reasons for the enrollment, is well offered among three universities. The international student advisors are available for all three universities. The foreign students of the UT are able to join in many academic skill workshops and classes, while the QT students have a chance to take many free workshops and computer trainings. The UA seems rather more interesting due to offering the international student centre, the peer mentor program and the language & culture exchange.
To sum up, all three universities have their own attractive strengths. However, in my opinion, Tanawat should consider applying for the UT which can adapt for his requirements. Because of its low living cost, studying at UT is to save money from the limit budget. Moreover, the UT has many free skill workshops and classes so that he can gain many practical experiences for his nursing course.
