Death happens to people every day in the world, from disease or severe illness, to being tragically killed in an accident or being murdered in cold bold. A person who commits murder often gets around 10 years to life depending on how the victim was killed by the murderer. When a person commits more than one murder and target a certain type of victim, they are considered a serial killer. In some states, where a serial killer gets caught the state’s government pushes hard for the serial killer to get the death penalty. The state’s government system should not continue to push the death penalty on serial killers. First, the government stoops the same level as the killer. Killing another human being, the government should not have the right to take a person’s life, even though that person is taking other people’s lives. Next, when the serial killer is committing the killings they are not thinking of the death penalty. All they are thinking is who is their next victim and trying not to get caught. Finally, giving the death penalty it won’t give the satisfaction the victim’s families want. Their families want to give the serial killer all the pain that they gave to their love one, but the law won’t allow them to do that without punishment. Putting the serial killer in jail for life will give them some satisfaction but not the same pain the families want to give to the killer. Therefore, the death penalty will not solve any problems or get even with the killer by stooping to the same level as the killer, the death penalty don’t go through a serial killer mind, and the death penalty won’t give the same satisfaction as the victim’s families want.
The death penalty is a topic that is controversial to people, if it is the right thing to do when dealing with a serial killer. The death penalty law has it benefits by getting rid of a human who is doing a lot more harm than good. Would you think god will approve us taking another person life? Does it make right letting the government kill someone, when their job is to protect the people who live in the United States. In the article “Death Penalty’s False Promise” by Anna Quindlen, she supports the side against the death penalty. Anna’s main reason she didn’t support the death penalty is stated in the article, “I think the killing of one human being as punishment for killing of another makes no sense and is inherently immoral” (420).Killing another human shouldn’t feel good in any way. If the government is going to assassinate the serial killer, they might as well give the rights to hurt and torture the serial killer to the victim’s families because the murderer didn’t upset the government.
The death penalty eliminates the problem of the serial killer, but does it make our government serial killers too! By having the death penalty law still in effect, it gives power to the state’s government, which they shouldn’t have and don’t need. The American people should take action because they are held accountable because they want the serial killer gone too. The government will stoop to the same level as a killer, our government is not here to kill the criminals but here to protect and letting people have freedom. In the article Quindlen states, “The death penalty is wrong…because it consists of stooping to the level of the killers” (421). The government should not be the same level as killer, let the serial killer do the killing, but whenever they are caught we treat them with the pain they gave to their victim. Death is here every day, all day we can’t avoid it when god already has set time for people to live
Next, when the serial killers are doing the murdering they don’t think about the consequences. If they did, they would have stopped and move out to hide from law enforcements. The government thinks that the death penalty laws scare serial killers to stop their killing spree. Serial killers know they are doing something wrong and know god will not accept him in his kingdom. Going through their mind is not the death penalty law but continuing the devil’s work and they won’t stop until they are caught. After getting caught and sentenced to the death penalty, the serial killer doesn’t have the mind or heart to say sorry to the victim’s family and the serial killer knows his job was done. In the article it states, “Ted finished up in Florida, law enforcement authorities suspected he had murdered dozens of young women. He and the death penalty were made for each other” (420). After Ted Bundy was caught in Florida he was suspected of enormously amount of murders to young people, the government was pushing the death penalty; Ted didn’t care at all about his life after getting caught. This criminal shows that the death penalty law is not scaring the serial killer because they have lost their mind and just here on this planet to hurt people.
The government using the death penalty law on the serial killer doesn’t equal the same pain that the victim’s families want to afflict on the killer. Put the serial killers in jail for life with no contact to the outside world. This will serve justice in the right way to the victim’s families. Those families want the serial killer to feel the same physical and emotional damage they gave to their loved one. That would be equal amount of pain that the families are looking for. In the article it states,” the death penalty does not let us all have at him…something as horrifying as what happened to his child to happen to Ted Bundy. And that is impossible” (422). The families are not satisfied that government gets to kill the serial killer; especially they don’t have any involvement in the murder case. Victim’s families want to be the government for Ted Bundy and afflict all the pain he gave to the family. In a perfect world that would happen for the families but in the world we live right now that seem unreasonable.
The death penalty law has caused a lot of problem over the years. Mostly because does the government have the right to take someone’s life. It gets rid of the killer and people don’t have to worry about the killings no more. However, somebody has to take responsible of that death because he was living person even though his purpose in life was to harm other people. Using the death penalty on a murderer, make us no better than him. Taking someone’s life shouldn’t be decided by humans, but only god. The death penalty law is not scaring serial killers. They are finding holes in justice system to get free, continue to commit murderer until caught red handed. Finally the death penalty doesn’t equal the amount pain the victim’s families want to give to the serial killer. The pain they get at the death penalty site is short and painless. The families don’t think is right for their love ones and doesn’t serve them justice that they want. The death penalty doesn’t make any side happy; punishing the murderer in life in jail will set everything right.

What is on your dinner plate? Every fast food item people eat that tastes good is bad for us; every home cooked meal that is healthy for us comes at a premier price. The price of people making a home cooked meal is having the time to make the meal and the cost of vegetables and other ingredients which American families can’t afford to do every day of the week. On the other hand, fast food companies give us a good financial and time option for people to use, when families have no time to cook a meal at home. Our government is not pushing the food industry enough for our safety of the food and not giving American families the chance to purchase healthy food at an affordable price. Americans are now having problems with food industry and now facing the consequences of the food industry by letting former CEO’s and other higher important employees from big food companies run the government of which polices and laws are allowed that favors the big food companies instead of people’s food safety. Another problem people face in the food industry heavily relies on corn to feed the farm animals and use corn on a lot of our food product at the grocery store. Corn has no health benefits, full of sugar and makes people overweight. Finally, the issue of the living condition of the farm animal. The big food companies are not treating the farm animals with love and respect and when not treating the animal correctly people will have to pay with their health. Therefore, the problems American face with the food industry are the government are run by former CEO’s and other important employees, corn is bring heavily relied on for farm animals and our grocery products, and the living conditions of the farm animals.
The decisions our government makes concerning topics on food safety and other major food topics is controlled by former employees of the big food companies. Whenever an issue comes up in congress for food outbreaks such as E. coli and Salmonella from big food companies, they pay their former employees to make it quiet for the time being until they could face the problem at a later time. The USDA has no control of stopping these outbreaks such as E. coli, Salmonella, and many more from continuing to sicken the American people, as a result only the food companies could pull the merchandise with the outbreaks out of the grocery’s shelf. That includes meat from fast food places the people eat every day. Since the government reduces funding for the USDA they have conducted fewer inspections on the food that we eat (Food Inc.). That is why over the years there are a lot more outbreaks because the people are letting former big food companies’ employees in our government. Kevin a little young boy who took a family vacation, ate a hamburger at a fast food place and start getting sick, he contain E. coli from eating the hamburger. He was perfectly healthy before eating the hamburger; tragically he passed away 12 days later after getting E. coli (Food Inc.). Kevin’s mother, Barbara Kowalcyk a food advocate push hard for the USDA to have the power to shut down the plants that repeatedly produce contaminated meat, called Kevin’s Law (Food Inc.).The law has not been passed yet thanks to former big food companies employees who working for the government, they stopped it from being an official law by not letting congress to vote on that matter.
People, who read the label behind a grocery item at the local grocery store, look at the ingredients that is in the product your about to buy. People will see their grocery contains some type of corn being use for that food product. About 90 percent of our foods at our food markets contain corn or soybean or both. Food product that contact corn are: peanut butter, coke cola, jelly, cheese and many more (Food Inc.). Also, Corn has become the most important food for the farm animals because it is so cheap for the farmer to make and could be used to feed the farm animals we eat to grow bigger and quicker. Farm animals like cows, sheep and goats should eat grass mostly and at times eat hay, maize silage and other home grown crops. Pigs need to eat cereal grains, turnips or mangolds. However, farmers are encouraged to grow more corn because they get subsidized by the government, it will make corn cheaper and that is the reason why meat is cheap and affordable for American families. Cows who are eating corn developing health problems, such as liver abscesses, bloat, and sudden death syndrome. The cow’s stomachs are not designed to eat corn, that’s why they multi-chamber and are able to digest grass easily because they are natural ruminant. Cows, who continue on a corn diet with no grass being fed to them, may contain the E. coli strain 0157:H7. If the food industry put grass on their diets for five days, 80 percent of E. coli will be shed (Food Inc.). As people think the food industry would just put grass on the cow’s diet but they come up with a high tech fix, which they use technology to cover up the problem for the time being and continue on with the feeding system they have. Not thinking about how the E. coli disease could hurt the animal and not treating the disease before it goes out of the farm, people will consume it and get sick, but their main concern is to make the cows grow faster and taking American people money without dealing the consequences.
Those farm animals we eat live in bad condition from start to finish. Chickens are mass produced for framers to meet the contract they signed with big food companies. All those chickens that live in a chicken coop are all crowded up and could only take a few steps because their bones in their body are not able to handle all the drugs they have taken to make them fatter. All that weight they have in their body make chickens become crippled under their own weight and die just inches away from water and food. The air that the chickens breathe in the chicken coops is full of dust and live with *** (Food Inc.)The farmer who treats their chickens like a factory are forced to see these farm animals suffer to make a living because they are mandatory to listen to the big food companies, how they want their chicken to grow. Not only are they hurting the chickens, but the farmer who raise the chicken from start to finish. The antibiotics that chicken are being feed, bacteria builds up a resistance so those antibiotics won’t work, and so the farmer becomes allergic to antibiotics and can’t take anymore (Food Inc.). When the people who are going to take the cow to the slaughterhouse, see a cow that could barely walk and falls down, people who work in the farms drive a bulldozer and force cows to keep going, not thinking the pain the animal is feeling( Food Inc.). After they are finally large enough to be slaughter, the farm animals are crowded onto trucks over many miles through all weather extremes, typically without food or water to their journey to the slaughterhouse. They should be treated right with compassion and protected from suffering even though they are going to be slaughter because they are animals that are living creature of god, as people should have no right to treat an animal in any harmful way. The food industry need to take reasonability for their action because the message they are sending by letting the farm animals live in bad conditions , should send every Americans feeling that they don’t care what goes in our body, if we are healthy or not.
For every problem there is a solution. If our government is involved with the problem it will take a lot for time for the solution to kick in. One problem Americans have with the food industry is they let former employees like CEOs, attorneys, or board members go into office (Food Inc.). In order not let big food companies run our government, make sure the candidate who is running for office are not former big players in the food industry who continues to support bad or America. Doing research of the candidate will help if he was doing good or bad supporting in the food industry. If they are already in congress and doing well for the food industry instead of the people, push them to enforce food safety standards and re-introduce Kevin’s law (Food Inc.). Another problem is corn is being fed to farm animals, making the animals unhealthy and most of our food from the food market is using corn that also could be unhealthy for us. To fix this problems, by reading label and looking for anything that contains any type of corn substance (Food Inc.), and trying to buy less product containing corn. Last problem people face is the way, farm animals are living in the farms that is wrong. People who run these factory farms should have some humanity for these animals because they are living just like us people. Some solution to fix this problem is to push cruelty laws of animals to include farm animals from the cruelty pain they are living. Buying organic dairy product and meat, people know that animal were living in good conditions because they had the right to run around the field, be fed what they are supposed to be feed, and being treated right by everyone who works at the farm. These solutions are not going to happen overnight, but as communities we should push hard to get the food industry to do right and help fix a lot of America’s problems.
Food industry has done a lot of damage to people who buy their food products. The food industry has hid under a rock whenever they are being attacked for letting outbreaks happens. Instead of trying fix the problem they will find a short term solution and deal with it later. The problems the food industry gave us, that their former employees who help them run their food companies are helping them by having certain laws not to have an effect on their profits. Next corn is the main ingredient for our food products at the grocery store and being feed to the farm animals. Corn is cheap but it is making the American people and farm animals unhealthy which later on people have to pay the price with their well-being. Finally, the condition of the animals that live in the factory farms should not be treated like that. They are livings creature and god would want us human beings to treat them like any other human. The American people need to step up, if they want to live a healthy lifestyle for everyone in the food chain.
