There are several direct consequences of overpopulation. The first of these is the depletion of resources. As population densities increase, the limited amount of natural resources can't supply the current needs. A study by the UNEP Global Environment Outlook also found that human consumption had far outstripped available resources. Secondly, the human population continues to explode resulting in environmental degradation. Unbridled use of natural resources is harming the planet. Direct causes, for example, are deforestation and desertification, extinction of animal and plant species. In addition, the burning of fossil fuels also increases the amount of CO2 emissions leads to global warming and environmental pollution. Finally, an overcrowded population causes the growing emergence of new epidemics and pandemics. A WHO report shows that the growth in world population is a significant cause of the rapid expansion of human diseases. It also makes infections diseases such as SARS, Covid - 19 unrestrainedly spread out and harder to control. To conclude, the impact of overpopulation is tremendous. It exacerbates many social and environmental factors which diminish the quality of life. Population density increase is one of the biggest challenges and poses a threat to human society.
