Can someone check my informal letter (english homework)

I had to make an informal letter using some guidelines.

BEGIN LETTER:

18th October 2013

Dear Terry

I recently signed up for a contest. The prize is to be part of the TV-program Starmaker, where twelve musical teens get to live together in a house while constantly being filmed.
A week after I signed up I was invited for a meeting. Two days after the meeting I was called and they told me I was chosen to take part in their program.

At my arrival I met the other participants for the first time. Six girls and six boys including myself. Soon I had befriended Tim.
After a week or so I had gotten used to the cameras and I had singing-, dancing-, and music lessons everyday
The audience could vote twice a week about whom of the participants had to be send home. It was very exciting and scary at the same time. I had to leave after 5 weeks. Tim had to go after 4 weeks.
It was quite unfortunate that I hadn’t won, because the winner gets to record a CD and the honor to perform on live TV. But in the end I don’t mind I didn’t win, because it’s also nice to be home after some time.

I hope you will write back to me soon.

Best wishes,

Allard
