Modern-day psychiatrists will assume that Charlotte Perkins Gilman is in counterproductive during her treatment. Today, many of the patients who have mental illness because they could not solve their own problems that they are facing . The proper way to find the mental illness diagnosis of Charlotte is to understand what she need and gathering information of her problems. Talk to her and prescribe the best therapy for her personally. In this case, all Charlotte needs is freedom. Charlotte's illness is have been mistreat by use of "Rest Cure" because her husband does not understand what she need in order to get better . "never to touch pen, brush, or pencil again", limited social interaction and imprisoned her in the small room covered with yellow wallpapers. For a writer like her who like to express herself in writing, these are just too insane for her. Her husband is too arrogant just because he is a physician , so he thinks he is right about everything of treating Charlotte's illnesses. However her condition became even worse than before, which results she lost herself and hallucinations of a woman that trapped behind the wallpaper that wants be free. The woman behind the wallpaper is a symbol of Charlotte that she want to get out of the house and be free. So Freedom is the treatment for Charlotte.
