Can someone check my abstract for grammar and punctuation
Hello. I am a danish student writing a big paper about babylonian mathematic and the first page has to be an abstract in english.
So i would really like if someone would check from grammar, punctuation, phrases or words which should be changed. Every help and criticism is appreciated. The words in brackets is because I would like to know which one to use.
Our first knowledge we have regarding mankind’s use of mathematics date back to the Babylonians, a cultural nation occupying southeastern Mesopotamia. Most people only know Babylonian because of the legendary Hanging Gardens of Babylon and the Tower of Babel but the Babylonians is also considered the developers of algebraic methods of solving equations. Numerous clay tablets, which clearly indicate that the Babylonians had a solid knowledge of almost all aspects of elementary arithmetic, have been excavated. This paper will explain how the Babylonian numeral system, known as the sexagesimal system, functioned. It will also examine the history behind the origin of the system and how it was used to carry out advanced mathematical calculations, in particularly quadratic equations. A scrutinization of some of the problems from the tablet BM 13901 will be adduced along (in conjunction?) with a comparison of modern mathematic, to see how the Babylonian techniques (procedures, methods?) can be related (associated) to those we use today. As the studies will show, the Babylonians were extremely skilled (experienced?) in solving a wide range of mathematical problems, which helped them to establish an excessively efficient civilization. For example, the Babylonians used their skills in mathematic to achieve maximum productivity when digging canals, something they were very famous (well-known?) for. Even though we today make use of a base-10 numeral system, we still see the legacy of their base-60 system in the form of degrees, minutes, and seconds in trigonometry. The abacus is also an invention of the Babylonians, which was made as a calculating tool in aid of their merchants.
