can somebody please help me check for grammatical errors, thank you!!
I have experienced both the American culture and the Panamanian culture by living in Panama for ten years and in the United States for seven years. In Latin America and in the United States children are raised and disciplined differently. In Panama and in other Latin American cultures children have to be polite to their parents and elders because our cultures respect the wisdom and experience of our elders. However, in the United States I have seen that the American children lack a certain respect towards their elders for what I believe is because Americans belief that we are all equal and should be treated as equals. To such consideration is this belief that children who are disrespectful to their elders do not receive the same form of discipline that Latino children receive, where some parents punish their children by beating them. In the United States parents give their children “time-outs” and also “ground” them when they are disrespectful to their elders, while in Panama and in other Latin American countries parents beat their children in order to discipline them. What is call child abuse in this country to a certain extent is call “discipline” in my country and in other Latin American countries as long as the children are not physically harm. Although parents in both cultures discipline their children differently, from my experience, I have seen that both cultures differ on the idea of how children should be discipline when they misbehave and disrespect their elders.
