Can somebody correct my two small texts?! (Tourism)

Hi, everybody!

I am applying for a scholarship and I am supposed to send some texts and articles written by me. I chose two and would be great if somebody could check the grammar, cause I am very insecure about my English skills, to be honest.
Thanks!

Accessible Everything

Blog groups articles and pictures to help disabled travelers plan their trips and discover the world more confidently.

Created by Craig Grimes, a T6 paraplegic who became disabled after an accident in 1997, Accessible Everything is defined by its author as a “mishmash of a travelogue, personal experiences and professional opinion from a wheelchair user point of view”.

The page is informative, easy navigable and updated like a blog. It has a list of the categories and issues already commented to facilitate users' researches, such as ‘accommodation', ‘guided tours', ‘discrimination' and lots of others. In there, people may come across with photos and texts related to lots of different places, both in Europe and other corners of the world. Right now, there are posts about countries in Central America, United States, Canada, Brazil, South Africa, India and Australia.

Grimes traveled independently through important cities and could observe the difficulties and problems faced by disables people. So, he decided to create a virtual space where travel lovers and people interested on disabilities could plan trips and support other people.

Craig believes that available information on disabilities in lots of places is not enough. It's essential that all the information is as much detailed as possible. “It's not so much the amount of information that is available it's the quality of the information. Many websites give misinformation or the information is so vague that it isn't of any use”, says. He thinks that informative measures, when talking about accommodation, for example, are very important.

Most of the posts are composed by articles written by Craig, based on his experiences. But there are some interesting articles from other disabled people who want to help sharing their opinions. And one of the principal points of the website is the great amount of pictures that illustrate the texts.

In addition to it, users may find other pages dedicated to disabilities and committed to provide travel hints about specific touristic cities. So, take a look at www.craiggrimes.com and check it out.

Western point of Europe

Geography and poetry explain the importance of Cabo da Roca, a Portuguese cape that presents an undeniable beauty.

“Where the land ends and the sea begins”. This is how Luiz de Camões, Portuguese poet of the 16th century, defined the Cabo da Roca (Roca Cape), the western point of the European continent and one of the main touristic points of Lisbon – Portugal.

The place attracts lots of different types of people: fishermen, tourists, surfers looking for the beautiful beaches around, photographers, and nature lovers. Although it's a well-known site, it's still possible to enjoy peacefully the environment most of the time.

Visitors state that watching the sunset in this cliff is an unforgettable experience. But, for the adventurers, a good option is hiking through the tracks and admiring the nature. It's necessary to be careful, because some of them are not signaled. Maps of the region are available in Sintra, in Ericeira or in the cape.

The cliff rises out of the Atlantic Ocean and is about 140 meters above the sea level. There, it was built one of the most famous lighthouses of the peninsula.

The lighthouse of the Cabo da Roca started functioning in 1772. In 1843, it was modified and got great importance, especially because of its geographic positions, either for the Lisbon ample port or for other European big cities. Its reach surpasses 25 miles and the tower, the main structure, is approximately 22 meters high.

The easiest way to arrive in the cape, which is located in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, is by car. People interested in getting there must take the road N 247. Another alternative is taking the bus number 403 that passes every 90 minutes and connects Cascais and Sintra.

Also known nowadays as ‘Promontório da Lua' (Promotory of the Moon) and ‘Focinho da Roca' (Roca Snout), the place received distinct names during the history, but something that will not change is the fascination provided by the nature to each visitor.

Hi Zabela, You say that these articles are supposed to be written by you. That makes me feel like I should not be correcting your English. What do you think?

That makes me feel like I should not be correcting your English. What do you think? Am I wrong?

Hi, Clive.

But the texts were written by me. I am just asking to correct the grammar.

Something like what an editor does in newspaper, magazine and many other medias.
Do you consider ir a problem?!

Best wishes,

Hi,
IBut what if you then get the scholarship because your corrected English is slightly better than some other person's? Do you think that would be fair?
Sorry to bother you with these doubts.

Hi,

the texts dont have to be in English. Actually, I am sending them in English to facilitate the comprehension, since I don't know if there will be a native to read them in Portuguese (my mother tongue).

That's why I would like them to be very well written.

But if you desagree and prefer not to correct them, it's ok... I respect your opinion.
