I am practicing my written english. Can somebody give me some feedback? Thanks!
"As is well known in the international community, good ideas come from open minds, so, as to achieve this goal, I shall start practicing my written english, because an open mind is not enough, and hardwork is the key to success. Yet it's very hard to achieve a good, consistent, practice. There is a lot of things in the way, and it's mandatory to overcome some inscurities and fears. First of all, it's important to be able to face adversity, and by this I mean being able to look closely one's own mistakes. Writting a text is troublesome and requires lots of thinking. This one is just a warmup, not having a lot o brainwork. Eventhough simpler sentences make the text clearer, complex structures are frequently well received by the ones in charge. Whilst some consider it difficult to achieve a grade A style of english, I say that it just requires practice. As you can see i'm not paying much attention to paragraph structure or ideias, just writing freely. The next time i'll certainly use the english style guide, or better put, the candidate's handbook. It contains a series of good advices and exercises, designed to hornup our english skills. A contrived, artificial dissertation is strongly disencouraged, as it reflects meek learning, and can lead to appaling results. That is just wrong, by the way, as I presume “appaling” don't have this meaning, refering to something rather spooky, or dreadfull. Anyway, the time will tell. I am, now, trying to remember some words I just learned, and use them to make sentences. For exemple, albeit. I think albeit has a meaning similar to notwithstanding, and is used to make kinds of opositions. He is strong albeit coward. Thence, it's similar to “porém”. The use of notwithstanding is rather difficult, nevertheless, and i'm not quite sure how to manipulate it. How to convey it's real meaning. Let's see, overtake. The japanese economy overtook the american in/on the last quarter of the third semester."
