Dare of a lifetime

It was dark inside the house; I could faintly see objects like nails, hammers and garbage everywhere. It was clearly obvious that this house wasn’t finished. I tried to be sneaky but it wasn’t easy, there was too much stuff eventually I slipped on a piece of garbage. I caught myself on a shelf before I hit the floor I made my way to the stairs. I softly tiptoed up the stairs trying not to make a sound.

When I was halfway up the stairs, I heard some one pulling into the driveway. I dashed up the remaining stairs and dived into a dark corner. By that time they were already in the house, I was trapped. I sat in the corner for 10 minutes but it felt like 10 hours! They never came up stairs.

After not hearing anything for some time, I tried to make an escape. I ran down the stairs. The coast was clear I sprinted to the back door. I was outside I was free so I thought. When I was halfway across their yard I heard a voice yell at me” GET BACK HERE”. I looked back and there was a humongous man running after me, but I didn’t stop.

I kept on running all the way home. When I got there, I could smell the chicken on the BBQ for dinner but I was not hungry. I went straight upstairs, had a nice warm shower. When I got out I went to bed and tried to fall asleep.

At 2:00 am I still wasn’t asleep, because every time I shut my eyes I kept seeing the humongous bulky man running after me yelling “GET BACK HERE!” I told myself that night I would never do another dare even if my friends did call me “chicken”.
