Can see

Hello. When a (chess) book writes
"As you can see in diagram 108, [..]" Is it refering to the ability of looking at the diagram, or it wants to make the continuous form of the verb?Because I have read that 'see' cannot be used in the continuous aspect and can be made continuous by using the auxiliary 'can'.
Thanks in advance

Use your common sense: there is no point in the author wondering whether the reader is blind or not.
