Can one say "impregnated a student"?

During the course they dismissed one of the lecturers because he impregnated a student.
Is their perhaps a better way of saying this?

You're right. But if you are complaining about a professor, I am not sure that I would want to go too far. Admittedly, saying he had sexual relations is going pretty far.
