Can one say...

Can one say: 'He did not have any idea of what the list consisted'?

(Instead of: 'he did not have any idea of what the list consisted of' or 'he did not have any idea what the list consisted of'.)

Thanks very much in advance!

anonymous Can one say: 'He did not have any idea of what the list consisted'? You can say it, but you may get strange looks from people. It's correct, but people don't normally choose that construction.
