Can often be inserted in the sentence as follow?

Hi,
Can often be inserted in the sentence as follow?
nurses work a 12-hour night shift, from 7 AM to 7 PM, and they can take a three-hour nap which can be between 00–03 am or 3–6 am often by their choice.
I want to say this is not always by their choice, just often.

Thanks!

Hi

I understand that to mean that, in quite a few hospitals, the nurses can choose whether to take a break and sleep, either between 12.00 and 3.00 am or between 3.00 and 6.00 am. It is for them to decide

Some hospitals do not give the nurses that choice

Often they do get that choice (and that is good!)

I think many native speakers would hesitate to call a three-hour sleep 'a nap'.

Hi

By the time you've had something to eat, it's probably only going to be 90-100 minutes which sounds about right to me

Some people, I know, are refreshed by less than that, but it can vary a lot

Yes, 90-100 minutes sounds OK.
But gillyflower called it 'a three-hour nap', not 'a three-hour break'..
