Can NOW be in the sentence with present simple?

Hello.

I found this sentence in my textbook:

The images still haunt me as they will for a long time.

Is that a correct use of present simple? I think it is as it was written in my textbook. However I originally thought now emphasise something temporary, something what's happening these days - therefore I would tend to use present continuous only. Or is it just my wrong suggestion and pres. simple form is possible as well?

I am incredibly sorry. It should have been:

The images still haunt me NOW as they will for a long time.

So it doesn't really matter whether there is NOW in a sentence. I can use both present simple and present continuous depending on what I want to emphasise.

Do I get it right please?

The images are still haunting you {conceptualized as an on-going process}

So in some cases (like this one), the same thing is happening whether you use
