Can "milage" be used in such a way?

Dear All,

Can the word milage be used in these sentences?

The total constructed railway milage amounts to 5200km.
The ministry of railways will invest 650 billion US dollars this year to construct new mileage of 5200 kilometers.

Personally, I find this word slightly unsuitable here.

Thank you

Perfect Stranger Can the word milage be used in these sentences? Yes, but they are exceedingly odd when measured in kilometers rather than miles, and they are rather less than necessary anyway. The total railway construction amounts to 5200 km.
