can knowledge be given?

Hi, In their L1, my student's teachers 'give' their students knowledge. What do we do in English? Impart knowledge? Pass it on? Why don't we 'give' knowledge? I would be grateful for some advice, my credibility lies with me 'giving' an understandable answer.

impart knowledge works. But consider: The awkward "give knowledge" means "teach" or "instruct" or, possibly, "train"

It sounds like they are trying to translate some phrases from their own language word for word literally into English. Make sure they understand that it can't be done. Trying it will only lead to more frustration.
