Can I use two words with the same meaning in one line?

Is it okay to use in a marketing email two words with the same meaning in one sentence?
The line is as below:

Thank you for participating and taking part in the world league competition.

I want to know if this is considered incorrect (structure wise and all) or if it's correct but not popularly used.

The grammar is ok. The vocabulary is ok.

But the sentence has redundancies that would embarrass a careful writer. Most of the target audience would just ignore it, but others would think that the company's marketing department needs to have lessons in how to write good business English.
