Can I use this phrase?

Hi,

1. Can I use the following phrase and sentence?

too much of a good thing

How much of a big event is it?

2. Is the underlined phrase right? Does it need an article before Japanese? Mustn't put any article before words like Japanese or Chinese?

Drop the brackets and the question marks, otherwise correct.

you need the definite article.

the Japanese rival: Nissan (there is only one rival company called Nissan)

"too much of a good thing" OK

"How much of a big event is it?" I have never heard it
