Can I use 'the' when I am talking about specific words?

Hello Everyone!

This is my first time that I am asking a question here. I always get confused while using the article 'the'

Here is my question:

Adjectives are the words that modify nouns or pronouns.

In the above-mentioned sentence is it correct to use 'the' before words as there are many words in English, but here I am talking about only those words that modify nouns and pronouns.

I look forward to hearing from you guys
