Can I use the pronoun "it" in this situation?

Person A: How are you enjoying Spanish so far?

Person B: I really enjoy it.

Person A: How long have you been studying it?

If Spanish was mentioned in the first question, can I just use the pronoun "it" the second time I ask about it? or it would sound better to ask?

Person A: How long have you been studying the language?

In conversation it would be common to use "it" a second time, and in fact "the language" might seem noticeably verbose. In writing, "the language" looks better, but of course this is not primarily a written sentence.
