Can i use "take it off" and"put it off" as a same meaning?

Can i use "take it off" and"put it off" as a same meaning? or

Do they mean same nuance of action or not?
i knew they are used for describing the aspect (progress) of wearing.
right? that is why i ask that i want to know the using of two basic verb between take and put"

If you have a hat and you put it on , you are then wearing the hat. If you take it off , you are no longer wearing the hat. You cannot put it off , though this phrasal verb exists, with a different meaning.
