Can I use ‘stricken with’ and ‘a carrier of,’ ‘to prepare’ and ‘in preparation of’ interchangeably in the sentence?

Can I use ‘stricken with’ and ‘a carrier of,’ ‘to prepare’ and ‘in preparation of’ interchangeably in the sentence? I think I can, but I’m not sure.

HIV/AIDS spreads primarily by being (stricken with, a carrier of) other sexually transmitted diseases or (by) sharing needles, syringes, rinse water, or other equipment used (to prepare, in preparation of) illicit drugs for injection.
