Can I use "skydive" here for comedic effect?

The drunk man suddenly trips and falls off the roof of the skyscraper. Down on the ground people scream, watching the drunk man skydive.

Hi. Two questions:

1. I know what skydiving is, but do you think it would be okay to use here for comedic effect?

2. People scream, watching the drunk man skydive - is this a natural way to structure/construct the sentence?
