Can I use "for" to substitute "to" in this title?

Question 1: "http://edition.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/05/28/indonesia.quake/index.html", it is a title of a news item from CNN. Now I have a question, can I use the "for rescuing " to subsitute the "to rescue " in the title? Are they the same meaning?

Question 2: Does "something will be appreciated" equal "thans/thank you"? I meant, if I make a sentence like this, "any advice will be appreciated ,thanks a lot ". Does it accord with the habit of usage?

PS: Maybe there is a grammar mistake in my question, any advice will be appreciated.
