Can I use 'had,' 'got,' and 'taken' interchangeably in the sentence?

Can I use 'had,' 'got,' and 'taken' interchangeably in the sentence? Please help me. Thank you.

Cris remembers how his mother scolded him every time he stayed up late at night, but then he realized that she had done so out of love, for it he might have got sick if he had not (had, got, taken) enough sleep.

had is fine.

got is inelegant. I think Americans often say gotten.

taken is not natur
