Can I use "for the most part" here?

Hi!
Can I use "for the most part" here? Any other suggestions?

For the most part, my concerts and development as an organist took place here after my arrival; furthermore, I had a chance to play a lot more, as there are lesser organists here per square meter than in Germany.

Thank you!
