Hi, everyone. Can I use different tenses before and after the conjunction "and" ?
for example, here is a sentence from a news article and what I want is to discard the participle usage in this sentence: " Led by the Civil Human Rights Front, the protesters represented at least five other groups, including the League of Social Democrats and Democratic Party."
and I rewrote it as:
"The protesters were led by the Civil Human Rights Front andrepresented at least five other groups. They include the League of Social Democrats and Democratic Party."
Is my rewrote correct ? are there a better way to rewrite this sentence? Thanks

Yes, that is OK. As is usually the case with published text, the original sentence is the best choice.
