Can I use dialogue in writing letter ?

This has nothing to do with grammar. It is a question about writing style or content. Often we use reported speech in letters, but it is quite possible to quote individual phrases or sentences in order to emphasise that you are writing the exact words that someone said.

  • It would be rather unusual (not impossible) to include extended segments of direct (quoted) dialogue in a letter.
  • It depends on the type and style of letter.
