can I say : This is a book.

can I say :

This is a book

This is book ........... <<<<<<< the second sentence is right but the first sentence . I am not sure about it

I know that is wrong to say : a milk or a water because it is uncountable nouns

but I don't know If I can use (this or that or he she or they with a or an ) like the first sentence that I wrote

'This is a book' is fine. Books are countable, so if you introduce one single book, you must use 'a' . If you use personal pronouns ( I/we, you, he/she/it, they ) you shouldn't use any article.

  • 'This' and ' that' are not used with articles, but you can use 'this' and 'that' instead of 'the' .
  • 'An' is used only when the next word starts with a vowel: 'a n a pple' ; 'a n e xcellent book' .
