Can I interrogate something like this?

I would like to know if the following sentences sound okay.

Teacher:
Are you saying you were only hit one-sidedly but did not hit anyone?
By any chance, did you hit(or have you hit) any students at least(or even thought; even if) that was as a self-defence?

The situation is like this: Several students got into fight and the teacher would like to figure out the situation. So he wants to ask a students who claims that he was only a victim of the brawl about the fight.

I wrote other options I think might possible in parentheses, but I am not sure how I should actually express this correctly. If there are better ways, please feel free to let me know. Thank you as always!

I suggest this. Teacher: Are you saying you were only hit and that you didn't hit anyone back? Didn't you hit anyone in self-defence?
