Hi guys,
I have a verse for one of my students in a speech competition and I'm having trouble understanding the meaning. Here is the verse:
An Apple a Day
An apple a day,
Sends the doctor away.
Apple in the morning,
Doctor's warning.
Roast apple at night,
Starves the doctor outright.
Eat an apple going to bed,
Knock the doctor on the head.
Three each day,
seven days a week ruddy apple, ruddy cheek.
Basically, I think the verse is saying that eating apples is healthy so no need to see doctors. I sure about lines 1-9 but I'm having problem understanding the last line.
Is the speaker saying that apples every day, every week and it is gets boring eating apples and he/she is getting fed up of apples?
This verse is for a young child and I sure 'ruddy' is a swear word. Go figure

Thanks for your time
Pete
