Can "frighten away" be used in my sentence?

Would you please tell me if "frighten away" can be used in my sentence? Have I made any mistakes?

Unfortunately, in many cases neither alarms nor security cameras frighten away burglars, who seem to have become ever bolder and don't have any scruples about ruining lives of their victims.
