'Can be' or 'could've been'? 'We can lose' or 'we've lost'? 'One another' or 'each other'?

Which expressions should I use?

We should be happy that some storms merely destroy houses, nothing more. I mean it (can be, could’ve been) worse, but at least, we’re safe, right? Some people think or say that (we can lose, we’ve lost) everything! You know what? They’re wrong. Everything will be okay as long as we have (one another, each other).
