Why don't you try something by Charles Dickens if you want to read another historical author? Or the Bronte sisters? You might also enjoy Thomas Hardy.

I'm not sure if this is exactly the type of book that you are looking for, but try Jane Austen's books. They are excellent and historically accurate. I think that they are similar to Vanity Fair, but I am not sure.

Hello JK

You might try Stendhal's 'Scarlet and Black', or Flaubert's 'Mme Bovary'.

Dostoevsky's 'Brothers Karamazov' is an interesting contrast to Tolstoy.

Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House
Kate Chopin's The Awakening
Guy de Maupassant's The Necklace
the list goes on, but the first one is a play the other two are short stories.

I've watched an onscreen rendition of Doll's House, starring Anthony Hopkins. (yes, it's pretty old)

Hi, I have just read 'Future Film Fiction' by Ian Clinton. I couldnt put it down because of its fast-paced content. There are four stories in this book, an action/sci-fi, crime drama, romantic horror, and the last one is something of an adventure/love-story. I didnt read the first one, the sci-fi, till the end, because I dont normally go for that sort of thing, but the rest of the book was so goo

Agatha Christie's books mightn't be quite like that, but novels like "The Big Four" and "And Then There Were None" are fantastic!
