Can anyone please explain why the following sentence is incorrect?

2br
00Hello, 02br
02br
00 I'm not an English teacher by profession, though I'm helping out some German friends with their English.02br
02br
00They usually ask for a more grammatical explanation 05000 The following sentence is clearly incorrect, but how do I explain it in grammatical terms? 02br
02br
01b00* 01i00I worked really hardly and we got the contract02i00.02b02br
02br
00I think it's got something to do with not following one adverb ending in -ly with another - but then again, we can say 'really,really...'02br
02br
00I would be very grateful for any help to clarify this please 051030srchttp://www.EnglishForward.com/emoticons/emotion-7.gif31srchttp://www.EnglishForward.com/emoticons/emotion-1.gif

0Here, the problem is not grammar, but meaning. 02br 00"Hardly" very rarely means today "in a hard way," but most frequently "barely, in a minimal way" 02br 00You need to use "hard" instead, which does work as an adverb too. com/dictionary/hard
