Can anyone just tell me the errors in my article?
Chennai Flood!!! Natural Disaster Or Man Made?
So everyone one of us are familiar with the Chennai floods the previous year. But was it just a natural disaster or man made? Well it may be a natural disaster but it was surely caused because of humans!!!
Let's look at the facts about what made Chennai go underwater for almost 20 days! So starting from the beginning we observe a 1 week continuous rain in November starting which was not much concerned about, and then after 2 weeks starts the ultimate disaster which was not quite predicted. Well it would not have been that bad if people would not have covered all the pathways through which water could have escaped. So having no where to go water covered the whole city and let them have a lesson about it.
Before in around Chennai there was a overflow system for all rain water to flow out which involved distribution of water to ponds then lakes and finally they entered the river.But In the hurry to INDUSTRIALIZE the cities and lack of plains to set the industries on, they covered the all the big and small ponds and lakes, thus blocking the overflow system.
But this ain't just happening in Chennai almost all the metropolitan cities or smart cities in India are now doing the same thing and might face the same or even greater consequences in future. Everyone is considering the industrialization and urbanization as the growth or development of the country but are not considering the environmental problems.
Everyone needs to be aware of all these because just sending help to the victims is just not enough. Government/People has to take action before the disaster rather than mourning about the victims afterwards!!!
Government should start taking actions against all who illegally cover the water bodies to get their factories built and should be concerned more about the nature during planning for development.
