Some people believe that teachers play a more important role than peers in the education of children. To what extent do you agree with this?
Some people argue that the role of teachers is more crucial than friends in educating a child. Personally, I partly agree with this view because of the following reasons.
There are 2 main reasons why peers are beneficial in children’s studies. Firstly, peer helps them to understand the problems from the others, who are at the same age as them. In particular, youngsters nowadays tend to be depressed and stressed due to the pressure from their parents and teachers, however, when kids confide in adults, they do not sympathize and think that their children are making up an emotional story. Only ones who suffered from this can be sympathetic and give advice to each other. Secondly, putting kids in groups provides them with a relaxed study environment. In other words, not only are they open to express their own feelings, but they are also willing to present their personal point of view. It means that kids can support their peers in their studies, such as doing homework or preparing a presentation, which can enhance teamwork skills.
Apart from the practical benefits of learning with friends, I believe that the importance of teachers is indispensable. The first reason is that a class only has one adult who is responsible for all activities in a lesson. To illustrate, besides teaching, his work is to prevent chaos and keep the discipline of a classroom. Additionally, a nice teacher is also the kids’ friend, whom they can trust and get a strong bond with. Especially, he has to understand every student and give them the advice from his life experience that both parents and friends are unable to. Last but not least, the teachers have the responsibility to transmit knowledge to students, which cannot be replaced by studying with friends because of the lack of understanding. Only teachers can answer and explain any question of their students because they are trained to make others get a chemistry or physics theory.
In conclusion, for the reasons I have mentioned above, I strongly believe that teachers’ role in a student’s life is undeniable.
