Can anyone help me with my IELTS writing task 2?

TOPIC: Explain some of the ways in which humans are damaging the environment. What can governments do to address this problem? What can individual people do?

And this is my essay:

This day more and more environmental problems are caused by humans, but there are some solutions which are created to tackle this situation. In my essay, I will discuss the environmental issues and how authorities and individuals can solve this problem.

Two biggest threats to the environment are emission of greenhouse gases and waste from industries and households. Deterioration of air quality leads to the alarming rate of global warming, which is detrimental to the planet. The more the population increases, the more waste and sewage is discharged into ocean and soil, which is responsible for the coastal and soil erosion. Government should make more efforts to prevent the clearcutting problem-the main culprit of bushfire and the depletion of ozone layer. They can also run campaigns to raise people's environmental conscience. Individuals should take responsibility for what they did to the planet. It is now encouraged to use zero emission vehicles like electric bikes and cars or public transport, instead of using petrol engines. In houses, biodegradable plastic bags can be the alternatives of using single-use plastic. Moreover, people who decimate nature should be strictly punished and pay a heavy fine.

In conclusion, both governments and residents have to play their part in conservating the Earth.
