Can anyone help me to correct my erasmus cover letter?
Hello everyone, I have to make a cover letter in english in order to apply for the erasmus program. This letter is to be sent to my home university. Can you please help me with it? Thanks in advance, Punkyline
Dear Madam ,
I am writing to apply for the Erasmus Program at the University of Bergen in Norway. This will give me the opportunity to go abroad for a new master 1 specialized in European and international law. The purpose of this experiment is to go back to France having acquired a new legal knowledge and also be fluent in English.
Bergen is an attractive university because of its internationality. I understand that it is the leading university in Norway and has a vibrant and highly regarded law department. Moreover, I am very curious about Scandinavian culture and its educational system. Indeed, The Faculty of Law is located in the centre of Bergen, overlooking the Bergen fjord, this location is ideal for visit the town and all its secrets.
After graduating with a scientific baccalaureate in 2005, I headed for a preparatory class called hypokhâgne specialized in political science in Saint-Germain-en-Laye Jeanne d’Albret high school. Paradoxically, I found my calling _ studying law_ that very year. I validated my Hypokhâgne successfully but I chose not to carry on with khâgne,
Then I chose to integrate the Nanterre faculty of law. I got my law degree after 3 years, without repeating a year neither retaking exams. During my law degree year, I had to make a first specialization. I chose to focus on private law rather than public law. In 2009, after having spent considerable time studying the contents of the various masters available to me, after having consulting different point of view _ professionals, academics and former students’ _ it seemed to me that the master of business law offered the greatest advantage as regards access to the labor market.
Studying business law helped me to deepen my professional project. I want to become a business lawyer, working in a Europe wide law firm as barrister or as counsel in chamber in a large firm. I want to hold all the cards to handle my plans successfully.
I will, therefore, apply for a master 2 “juriste européen” (European lawyer) in two year. This is a selective program so I would like to enhance my law skills as well as my English before. This is one of the reasons why I would like to participate in the Erasmus program.
Another reason for studying in a foreign university is to learn a new language by immersing myself in the daily life of the country, especially in a non-English speaking country like Norway. I welcome the opportunity to learn Norwegian and to broaden my perspective.
I am very satisfied with my years of study at the Paris X University. We are fortunate to receive the teaching of many eminent personalities and when I go into bookstores, I am always glad to find law textbooks written by my teachers.
Because I have much respect for this university where I spent 4 years, I’d be more than a good ambassador of our college colors abroad.
I am planning on taking the following courses: International business contracts, comparative private law, transnational commercial law, and more.
Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
