00Every big city faces with the problem of traffic jams. That’s natural, because there’s so much transport on the roads ranging from public to private one. But what primarily causes those traffic 00 00jams? Without any doubt it’s cars. In an attempt to tackle this problem the governments of some countries 00 00have come to a firm decision on 00 00banning cars from the city centers.02br

00Obviously, it has it’s pros and cons. The main advantage that I see is that 00 00car ban will decrease the number of traffic jams and free people from00 00being stuck in and wasting their precious time. 00Another important00 00positive change will be the00 00dramatic reduction 00 00in the pollution and noise level. 02br

00On the other hand, car ban may bring out certain problems. Let’s think about the people whose job requires going from one end of the city to the other all day long . Should this person use public transport ,they’d waste a lot of time and consequently a lot of money. For some people it’s very inconvenient to use public transport, because they are used to comfort and can’t stand crowds or just don’t want to be 00 00packed like sardines. Moreover, you are dependant on the schedule. Waiting at the bus stop, especially in unfavourable weather conditions doesn’t appeal to anyone either.02br

00 00As for me, I’m in favour of banning the cars, though I understand it’s pretty hard to launch this campaign. Still there’s nothing impossible in this world. If I were a representative of the government I’d cut the price on public transport to the bone and make it completely free for 00 00students and pensioners. Increasing the price on petrol would be of some help as well. I guess many people would use public transport and save their money. Naturally , the speed limits for the public transport should be reconsidered, so that people were sure they’d get to the place of their destination in time. For those who are confined to their cars , I’d introduce congestion charges.02br

00If one day these plans were put into operation, life in a big city would be more pleasant and 00 00enjoyable. Until then we have to put up with traffic jams and choke on the fumes.02br
