The chart reveals the percentages of males and females participating in various sports in New Zealand in 2002
Overall,Netball and swimming enjoyed the most widespread populartiy among females while soccer and cricket and marital arts were the greatest options among males
As regards the first,the number of women who enjoyed netball was the highest with 25%,while almost no men showed interest in it.In terms of swimming,nearly twice more females than males participated in this sport with 13% for the latter,followed by the number of girls doing athletics with about 4% being slightly higher that of their counterparts.
By contrast,soccer and was the most preferred sports among men with nearly 24% whilst a much lower number of women showed their interest in it.Similarly,although cricket and martial arts were appealing to many men with roughly 10%,they were not the sports of choice for many women.
Meanwhile, Men and women shared nearly balanced proportions for basketball and tennis which attracted modestly more men than women with 7% and 6% for basketball and 8% and 7% for tennis.Finally,participation of men and women in unspecified sport totalled 18% and 10% respectively
