Can any one tell me difffernce between PAST and PRESENT PERFECT tence

hai,

am having small confusion with the present perfect and past tence. i know the tenses, but confusion in some examples

He (write) has written ten very creative short stories in the last year

He (write) wrote ten very creative short stories in the last year

In this sentence which one is correct and why?

please can any one give me the explanations...

In your examples, past tense sounds grammatical to me because last year gives us a big clue that everything happened in the past and has no relation with the present so,

He wrote ten.... is okay.

And i have taken this sentence from one site

If the sentence having in the last year, it requires only PRESENT PERFECT

If the sentence having last year, it requires PAST TENSE
