Can an object posess something?

Hi I hope you can help, I was pulled up on my grammar for this :-

"This mostly ensures that the majority of my notes are of my phrasing, rather than the text's"

which was corrected to

"This mostly ensures that the majority of my notes are of my phrasing, rather than the texts"

My original was refering to ownership of the single text's content as opposed to multiple texts, where as the second implies I was looking at several texts.

Which would be correct?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Darren,

Your version is right.

The problem is that in formal writing, some grammarians do not accept the Anglo-Saxon genitive for inanimate objects. In that case, you should correct to:

This mostly ensures that the majority of my notes are of my phrasing, rather than that of the text.
