Can adverbs modify auxiliary verbs such as may, can, will, must, shall, should, would, could, do, and need?

For example,

"always" and other adverbs of frequency belong after an auxiliary.

However, you may find it before the auxiliary on a rare occasion. I don't recommend that you do that.

Sentential adverbs can go before the auxiliary, though.

He certainly can do that. / He can certainly do that.
